How/why did you get involved in FEAST?
I repatriated to the UK in 2020 following the outbreak of Covid-19. At that time I decided to get involved with charity work in order to keep busy, get a deeper understanding of London, and gain valuable working experience to help with the transition back into a UK-based career. I spent 4 months working with a charity prepping and serving food for those experiencing homelessness, and whilst I went on to a more corporate gig, that time period has stuck with me as being one of the most varied, fulfilling and positively challenging experiences I’ve been involved in. When the opportunity arose for me to pivot away from the more corporate world again, I was keen to pursue work in the charity sector, and lo and behold, FEAST were in need of someone fitting my experience, so I’ve dived in head first.
Anything FEAST is doing that you are particularly passionate about?
FEAST has a very strong mission as a whole, and it’s a fully altruistic effort across the board, so it’s easy to be passionate about everything the charity does; I do think that the Healthy eating on a Budget programme is particularly exciting as it is so empowering for the service users and stands to provide long-lasting skills and agency, which will help equip all attendees to better get and stay healthy.
Hobbies and interests outside of work?
I’m an avid music fan and have played in bands since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I’ve got a fair few recordings on Spotify; should any intrepid music fan fancy a peek just let me know! I love reading when I can find the time, though that’s proving an ever-diminishing resource following the arrival of my son, Finlay. I’m starting to introduce a bit of reading into his life, but the plots are thin and I’m struggling to suspend my disbelief and really get into the Gruffalo. I also love cooking and generally spend most of my spare time in the house pottering about the kitchen.Back to the team
